Our novel editing process: What is included

We combine proofreading and basic editing in our novel and book editing service. The advice and experience of two editors can really help to improve your manuscript and get it ready for publishing.

Proofreading removes errors of:

-Basic grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Editing takes a deeper look at:

-Improving sentence structure by rephrasing awkward sentences

-Improving word choice, tone, flow and readability

-Where appropriate, make comments and suggestions in the margin about content, such as plot problems, weak dialogue, etc.

Another way in which we differ from other online proofreading companies is that we use two expert editors on every document that is sent to us.

We have worked with many authors to improve their work, including children’s and young adult novels.

The service includes basic manuscript critique which consists of a one page summary of some big picture issues that could be improved.

How the editor will make changes

Our editors use the tracked changes feature in Microsoft Word. Comments are added to clarify sections that are unclear or flag up repetition.
